Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal treatment refers to dental procedures aimed at treating and managing periodontal (gum) disease, which affects the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth. Gum disease is typically caused by plaque buildup and can range from mild gum inflammation (gingivitis) to more severe forms (periodontitis), which can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. The goal of periodontal treatment is to control infection, reduce inflammation, and restore the health of the gums and supporting structures. Early intervention is important to prevent the progression of gum disease and to maintain overall oral health.

Treatment of periodontal Services offered in our office include :

  • Scaling and Root Planing: A deep cleaning procedure that removes plaque, tartar, and bacteria from beneath the gumline and smooths the tooth roots to help prevent further buildup.

  • Antibiotic Therapy: In some cases, antibiotics or antimicrobial agents are used to reduce bacteria and inflammation in the gums. This can be done through oral medications or topical gels applied directly to the gums.
